    Re: 'GRA fails to monitor extent of false reporting by local businesses'

    In the Sunday, December 17 edition of the Kaietuer News, an article was published titled ‘GRA fails to monitor extent of false reporting by local businesses.’ The content of this article was attributed to a recent report prepared by the IMF. This article was subsequently followed by a letter published on December 20, penned by Tameshwar Lilmohan. This letter under the caption ‘IMF’s scathing report reveals worrying concerns about GRA’s administration’, contained excerpts from Mr.Lilmohan’s presentation which was made during his interview for the position of Commissioner General of the Guyana Revenue Authority.

    Container Scanner site being prepared at GNIC

    Construction of the Lombard St site for the scanning of containers is moving apace through a MOU signed between the GNIC and the GRA. The site which is slated for completion in January 2018 will enable the GRA to utilize cutting-edge technology to scan not only imports but also merchandise destined for foreign jurisdictions which meet the criteria for trading with some of Guyana’s major partners. One such is the Unites States which requires universal scanning of all containers entering that jurisdiction.
