Cancellation of Unserviceable/Destroyed Vehicles

Section 10 of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act 51:02 states thatthe registration of a motor vehicle shall remain valid so long as the vehicle is kept in use, and shall only be cancelled if the licensing officer is satisifed that the vehicle has been destroyed or rendered permanently unserviceable or permanently removed from Guyana”.

As such, owners of motor vehicles that are unserviceable/destroyed are advised to formally inform the Guyana Revenue Authority of such circumstances by submitting a letter along with the Original Registration. It should be noted that such vehicles cannot be registered or transferred.
