Guyana’s Next Generation for Trade

Accessible – Simplified

A joint initiative of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, and the Guyana Revenue Authority to modernise the trade and business ecosystem where all stakeholders that are integral to value network can collaborate seamlessly.

An initiative of the Government of Guyana with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank.

The Government of Guyana has introduced its Electronic Single Window (ESW) for Trade. The ESW is a secure business portal that simplifies international trade and business processes by providing real-time access to relevant government services.

Guyana’s ESW is the Guyana Trade Network (GTN). Through this network, Exporters, Importers, Shippers, Customs Brokers, Manufacturers, Freight Forwarders and other stakeholders in trade can submit applications and track their permits, license(s), certificates, declarations and approvals, etc. from the fifteen (15) Government agencies.

The average international trade operation in Guyana takes 200 hours for exports and 156 hours for imports. With the GTN, the government seeks to reduce the redundant cumbersome processes for imports, exports and other trade-related processes.

Patterned from similar ESWs in other countries, this system works in tandem with ASYCUDA to drastically simplify and streamline import and export regulations by enhancing inter-agency collaboration, streamlining procedures and harmonizing data requirements and documents while saving time and money.

Further, the GTN aligns Guyana with international best practices and commitments under the World Trade Organisation Trade Facilitation Agreement and facilitates the participation of Small and Medium Enterprises in International Trade.

This project is funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce.

Participating agencies: Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA), Government-Analyst Food and Drug Department (GA-FDD), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Guyana Energy Agency (GEA), Fisheries Department, Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC), Guyana Gold Board, Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), Guyana Livestock Development Authority (GLDA), Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS), Guyana Rice Development Board (GRDB), National Agricultural and Research Extension Institute (NAREI), Scrap Metal Unit, Veterinary Public Health Unit (VPHU).
