Residents living in and around New Amsterdam are hereby notified that with effect from Tuesday, August 16, 2022 they can apply for and uplift their New (First Time Applicants) and Renewal of Provisional Drivers Licence at the Guyana Revenue Authority’s New Amsterdam, Integrated Regional Tax Office, Ferry Street and Esplanade Road.
Persons must ensure they have the following documents when applying for a new Provisional Driver’s Licence:
- Completed application form
- Original Pass Letter from the Traffic Chief of the Guyana Police Force (GPF)
- Two passport-sized photographs
- Original valid form of Identification (ID or Passport)
Renewal:
- Original Provisional Licence
- Original Valid form of Identification (ID or Passport)
Provisional for Addition of Class:
- Original Driver’s Licence
- Original Valid form of Identification (ID or Passport)
A Provisional Drivers Licence is valid for three months and can be renewed up to three occasions.
A Provisional Drivers Licence does not qualify you as a driver and is issued on a temporary basis for your practical driving lessons before the GPF issues you with your Letter of Competence.
This service will be introduced at the other IRTOs by the end of the month.
