RESTRAINING ORDER ON SEIZURE OR DETAINING OF VEHICLES FOR TAXES OWED BY THE MOHAMED’S EXTENDED TO MAY 15, 2025

April 15, 2025

Georgetown, GRA Saturday April 15, 2025 – After listening to further arguments and submissions by lawyers for the Revenue Authority and the Mohamed’s earlier in the afternoon, Justice Gino Persaud extended the (status quo) restraining order granted on Saturday April 05, 2025 to May 15, 2025, to hear further arguments, and submissions and determination of the issues before him in relation to taxes due and breaches to the conditions of the re-migrants.
It should be noted that an extension of a Restraining Order is order issued pending a full trial, designed to maintain the status quo, and should not be interpreted as a final decision of the Court.
The Authority reiterates that it has in its possession irrefutable evidence of the said breaches, and the understatement of values of the other vehicles, and will vigorously defend the said matters presently before the Court.
The GRA will lodge an Appeal against the ruling, since the preservation of assets is not assured, and no bond has been lodged as is usual in these circumstances.
