Effective the 1st October, 2020, vehicles over 8 years old, half-cut vehicles and used tyres are allowed to enter Guyana. This is as a result of the 2020 National Budget.
The removal of the following paragraphs from Part II of the Second Schedule of the Customs Act, Chapter 82:02, results in the aforementioned being deleted from the list of restricted imports:
- Paragraph 12 (a), (b) and (c) “Motor vehicles including cars, vans, sport utility vehicles, pick-ups, buses and similar vehicles that are eight years old and over from the date of manufacture to the date of importation”
- Paragraph 14 (a), (b) and (c) “Used tyres for motor vehicles including motor cars, vans, sport utility vehicles, pick-ups, buses and other similar vehicles”
- Paragraph 15“Vehicle cuts for motor vehicles unless they are presented without the chassis in whole or part and/or disassembled to the satisfaction of the Commissioner-General”
With ASYCUDA Word facilitating the import declaration process for motor vehicles, the Guyana Revenue Authority wishes to remind carrier and carrier agents that it is mandatory to input the required vehicle particulars on the Waybill – VIN/Chassis Number, Engine Number, Make/Brand, Year, Colour, New or Used.
