- INTRODUCTION
By accessing or using the Document Lookup App (the App), you agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions. The App is provided by the GUYANA REVENUE AUTHORITY (GRA), a statutory body established under the Revenue Authority Act, Cap 79:04 of the Laws of Guyana. These Terms govern your use of the App and outlines the rights and responsibilities of Approved Entities (financial institutions and Government agencies) granted access for document verification purposes. - DEFINITIONS
“Document Lookup App” means the digital platform developed by the GRA for verifying the authenticity of documents issued by the GRA.
“QR Code” refers to the unique scannable code provided on each digital document issued by the GRA.
“User Data” means any personal or confidential information processed through the App.
“Person” means a natural person and includes any body of persons, corporate or unincorporated. - SCOPE OF USE
- Approved entities are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the App solely for the purpose of verifying the authenticity of documents presented by persons.
- The App must only be used for official and lawful verification purposes.
- The Approved Entity shall not misuse, alter, or tamper with any document or verification results obtained via the App.
- COMPLIANCE WITH DATA PROTECTION LAWS
- The Approved Entity must comply with the Data Protection Act, Act No. 18 of 2023 and all other applicable Laws of Guyana.
- The Approved Entity shall not store, copy, or disseminate any User Data obtained through the App, without prior consent from the person presenting the data.
- The GRA will implement technical and organizational measures to ensure App security and personal data protection.
- RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PARTIES
- Responsibilities of the GRA:
- Maintain and update the App to ensure functionality and security.
- Provide necessary training and technical support to the Approved Entity.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws governing digital document verification.
- Responsibilities of the Approved Entity:
- Use the App in accordance with these Terms and applicable laws.
- Maintain confidentiality of login credentials.
- Immediately report suspected fraudulent or unauthorized use of the App.
- Responsibilities of the GRA:
- RESTRICTIONS
The Approved Entity must not:- Modify, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the App’s operation.
- Share or sublicense access to unauthorized third parties.
- Disclose any verification data obtained from the App.
- Use the App for any purpose other than document verification.
- LIABILITY & INDEMNIFICATION
- The GRA is not liable for indirect or consequential damages resulting from the Approved Entity’s use of the App.
- The Approved Entity agrees to indemnify and hold the GRA harmless against any claims, damages, or penalties arising from misuse or unauthorized disclosure of User Data.
- TERMINATION
These Terms and Conditions are effective until terminated. The GRA reserves the right to immediately revoke access to the App if the Approved Entity breaches any of these Terms. - SURVIVAL
Even after termination, the following provisions will remain in effect:- Compliance with data protection laws.
- Liability and indemnification obligations.
- Governing law and dispute resolution.
- GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with the laws of Guyana. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall first be referred to mediation. If unresolved, disputes shall be settled in the courts of Guyana. - AGREEMENT ACCEPTANCE
By clicking ‘Agree’, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, you will not be permitted to use this App.
